The Château Montpoupon is an ancient medieval fortress, altered during the Renaissance. Inhabited by the same family since the middle of the 19th century, you are more than welcome to discover the riches of Montpoupon!
From the dining room to the King's quarters, from the stables to the Hermès Room, from the wine tasting room to the old kitchens, your excursion will be topped off by a delightful stroll in the forest.

Day 4: Bourré - Bléré
Visit of the troglodytic site of “La Magnanerie de Bourré”
A true green haven nested along the Cher Valley, the troglodytic site of la Magnanerie de Bourré will amaze visitors longing for an exceptional experience. This true paradise will leave no one untouched.
Come and feel the serenity of the unusual world of greedy silkworms and traditional cave dwellings. The silkworm rearers will guide you through the site and even let you take a look inside their untypical homes.

This is a rare opportunity to discover a privately inhabited “troglo”! It will most probably be one of your friendliest and most memorable visits of the Touraine!

Visit of the Château de Chenonceau with audio guide
The prestigious water castle is also known as the “Château des Dames” because it were mainly women who decided over its destiny and history. Built by Kathrine Briçonnet in 1513, it was later enriched and transformed by Diane de Poitiers and Catherine de' Medici, to name but a few.
Revisit the period between the Renaissance and the 17th century on your promenade through the royal domain from the ancient keep via the remains of the medieval fortified mill to Diane de Poitiers’ gardens.
Follow the steps of the great French philosophers and poets Voltaire, Marivaux, Montesquieu, Buffon and Rousseau (during their time, esteemed guests at the castle) on your way to the restaurant of the Orangery.

Traditional French Barge Trip
This is the ideal trip for cruising the Loire Valley. Departure from Amboise or Chaumont-sur-Loire. With at most 12 passengers on board, you will be welcomed in a simple and warm atmosphere to make you feel comfortable with the vessel and the river. The captain of the barge and your local guide are familiar with the vagaries of the river and will consider the sensitivity and the wishes of their passengers. The route depends on the weather conditions and the season and respects the preservation of the river environment. Each tour is an invitation to new experiences and unexpected encounters. It is the Loire that gets to decide!

Day 6: Chambord - Bléré

Far from the hustle and bustle of city life, the Château of Chambord is nestling in the heart of wild woodlands, home to boar and deer, near the banks of the Loire, the "royal river". It’s the largest and most prestigious of the Loire Castles built under François I to serve as a hunting lodge. It’s witness of the extravagant and lavish lifestyle of the French Kings and Princes who knew very well why they took up residence in this lush and beautiful “Garden of France”. Today the multi-turreted edifice opens its gates for visitors and stands for protection of nature and tradition. You will dispose of an audio guide in English.

Bed & Breakfast at an ancient 16th monastic water mill (Loire Valley). Ideally situated in the heart of the Loire Valley within walking distance from Bléré, the “Moulin” is a unique place of stay to discover the area. Gorgeous castles, old churches, authentic villages, vineyards on hillsides as far as the eye can see, immersed in the unique light of the Loire, make you savor all the pleasures that the green and lush “Garden of France” offers you. The mill has 4 large guest bedrooms and a suite. All rooms have private bathrooms and are tastefully and individually decorated. Breakfast with fresh fruits and homemade jam is served in the dining room with view on the waterfall. Dinners are served by reservation only : In the tradition of the French “table d’hôtes”, dinner is taken with the hosts and the other guests, the menu consists of: aperitif – starter – main course – cheese – dessert – accompanied by wine from a local producer. When the weather permits, aperitif and dinner are served in the garden. Free parking is available on the property. For security reasons (millpond and waterfall) we cannot welcome children under 10 years of age. A cat lives on the property, so regrettably we cannot accept pets.
